L’incisione deriva da un’opera perduta del fratello Teodoro Ghisi. Si tratta della prima illustrazione nota dei versi di Ludovico Ariosto nell’Orlando furioso (canto XIX, ottave 33-37, canto XXIII, ottave 102-103). Nel foglio in basso a sinistra è visibile la sigla GMAF, a destra il cartiglio con Teodoro/Ghisi in. Esemplare nel I/IV stato, prima dell’aggiunta dell’indirizzo di Lafrery in basso a destra.

Splendida impressione fresca e ricca di contrasto, carta vergellata con filigrana non identificabile. Esemplare rifilato alla linea di contorno. Minime mancanze agli angoli inferiori.
